what’s up?

I’ve been busy playing Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 2 (I downloaded it today and may finish it tomorrow :) )… I’ve put our CoE115 Machine Problem on hold since I think were ahead of many.. we’re done on the alphanumeric stage of the keypad.. numlock and capslock to go… :) IRC work is piling up which includes finishing our long overdue turbimeter and some Core work which involves testing the GPS module while travelling… Our first trial for the GPS test was a waste since we made a mistake in creating a new file.. aww shucks.. 1 hour of walking and testing gone gone gone.. haha.. I haven’t gone to the Jobfair because of lack of time and company… Hopefully tomorrow I can go for a visit… ece 151 exam on Jan26 which happens to be the submission of Coe115 mp2….1st week of February would be the coe115 exam… also, the ece117 project proposal(which can be equated to half a thesis in terms of load) is due last week of january… there… more strength to me and to my eee-mates! let’s go eee!

Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness Episode 1

Hurray for this game!!! This comic-based rpg game is worth the christmas break! I’ve always wanted a game like this one… It was very entertaining story with amusing characters and villains! I don’t know much about Penny Arcade but this game really caught my attention… The graphics are okei and the gameplay is very time-based… so timing and fast decisions are very important keys to the game. The enemies also have their weaknesses and strenghts that  must be understood to put their attributes to our advantage. :) It was a fast game but I am not sure what time I finished it.. It was also easy.. I could defeat the boss countless times! sadly I didn’t complete the upgrade case since I am 100parts short for Gabe’s Level 3 Knuckles… :) Yey! I’m so happy I finished another game!

The Picture Higher than this one above me is my character which I will pretty much continue using for the next episode.. :)

Next is a screenshot during my battle with the final boss…

Last is a trailer for the next episode which is already available… :) I am very excited to play again, but… I have academic work again… *control myself*

World of Goo!!!

Hello 2009!

haha… I was really bum this vacation.. I finished honey and clover I and II then completed the first season of Chuck …  Then I thought what to do next??? Obviously, I’m looking for options so I won’t go studying!!!

Checking the top PC games of 2008 gave same results which is World of Goo created by 2D Boy… Good thing It’s not some first person shooting game that requires a lot of memory space. :) It’s actually a simple game of applying the knowledge of physics or maybe just common sense to strategically use  “goo” balls to complete a certain task. :) Bloggers were right about it being addictive! It was a very unique game which had a simple user interface with amusing graphics…

I finished all the chapters of the game but it doesn’t end there… I’m still on the goal of obtaining Obsessive Completion Distinction (OCD) Flag to every level… Furthermore I’m still on that goal of building the highest Tower of Goo I can possibly make!

Hurray for World of Goo!!!

^_^

Happy new year!

Happy Birthday Niki!

Crack Attack, a genuine Time Waster

I have been playing crack attack for almost a year now. The first time I tried it was during the engineering week  2007 where it was considered a mini-game called Crackeng’g handled by UP ACM.  With little time to familiarize the game I was able to go pass by the elimination round with scores around 80 but was far from the two other contenders. Their scores ranged from 800 to 1000+. It looked like they have been playing all their life.  I was amazed. Ever since, Crack Attack became my natural time waster. Reflexive games come and go but Crack Attack was different. Crack Attack is a simple game where blocks of the same color are put together to eliminate them. This game needs speed to battle time and skill to obtain consecutive bonus points. So far my highest score was around 1200 (not extreme).

Here’s a video of how it is being played:

This Engineering Week 2008, ACM again handled Crackeng’g and to my dissappointment my 1 year experience was put into waste. Oh I had a higher rank than last time but apparently there are three super players of the same organization that was unreachable gatting the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. x_X

*sigh*

Although I improved, I guess everybody improved with me. :(

I have always wanted to win one for my organization. Well, I have one year left.  This is my last chance. AJA!

Christmas is near, Vacation is here…

it’s been a long while since I last posted here(almost one month! *gasp*)… It seems I had no time to even think of blogging.. Yes, this semester has been busy. Busy because of the bondacious combination of IRC  and academic work!  Mid-November, Me, Jet and Xinia decided to become apprentices  under the Core Group (Monitoring the Environment of Coral Reefs)… The apprenticeship had more work than expected. The group needed to deploy 3 systems (one for each type of waterproof casing). One system composes of the surface logger(includes GSM module) and underwater Temperature anf Light Sensors (2 slaves and 1 master). We had 2 overnights in the lab to prepare the systems on time. Thankfully,  the deployment was a success. :) Yey! The training was very fulfilling since this was my first time to program the slimboard (of course, thanks to kuya gino for the sample code.. hehe.. :) ) .

As for the academic work, CoE115 Machine Problem was the main problem. We needed to make the hardware for the uC+debugger  and after which interface a 16×2 LCD. Fortunately, Alvin was my partner which made everything easier fo both of us. Apparently, we work very well together… :)

The working hardware video will soon be uploaded… :)

The Engineering Week happenings deserve another post next time.. :) I’m still waiting for the videos to arrive…

*it’s freezing cold here*

Anime Review: Shakugan no Shana I and II!

This anime is one of my favourite anime so far! It had all the things that I wanted in an anime series! here are some points that makes Shakugan no Shana a great Anime.

1. Flaming hair and Blazing red eyes Shana. Shana’s character was well built. She is cute but clueless, strong but vulnerable. This anime supports female domination.. :) She’s the best heroine for me.

2. The plot/storyline made it interesting to watch. It is not your anime that has a number of villains that must be fought every other episode or like a tournament of such. It has a STORY. There are lot of secrets unfolded and the transition of every episode were balanced.

3. The battle scenes were absolutely spectacular. Well executed. Hands Down.

4. The romance was very much felt. The development of the Love Triangle excites me. There are few action-packed anime series that shows this much of romance.

5. The music. The tune of opening song of both I and II is still stuck in my head. :)

 Comments on the 1st season:

It was perfect. When it came to the transition of the plot this was better than the 2nd. Although Shana is sometimes exaggerated but it is still bearable… The last few episodes were a tearjerker… :)

Comments on the 2nd season:

This had a slow start but came off great in the end. One of my favourite scene was when they were battling Sabrac. The effects and music combined together was truly amazing. I was a little confused on Silver but came to understand it in the end. I am happy that they gave more exposure to Wilhelmina. She was great.

I really hope there is a third season. The villains are still there and there are still questions needed to be answered.

why it sucks to be me…

1. I am sensitive with the people that revolves around me. I don’t want them to think wrong of me. I don’t want to become a burden. I cry easily. I am easily offended when the people close to me criticize me.

2. I am insensitive with my sorroundings. I don’t pay attention to things around me. thus I am not good in directions. and I am clueless when it comes to general knowledge. :(

3. I am clumsy. My reflexes are not good. My senses are not oriented enough to prevent blunders. Luck is not in my side.

4. I am not physically fit. I can’t lift heavy objects. I can’t run fast. My body aches the next day after some stretching and exercise.

5. I am lazy when it comes to eating. I only eat when I am hungry. :(

6. Wrong study habits. I tend to memorize the procedure how the problem works and rely on the sample exams. Understanding things does not fulfill me. I am naturally not thirsty for knowledge but am trying to.

7. The only person I can fight with is him. that’s wrong.

8. Others first before Me. I don’t want that, but it happens.. :(

9. I envy people and thinks selfishly sometimes. I brag too.

10. I lack talent. I don’t play musical instruments. I don’t sing nor dance. But I can make animated characters.

The reason I wrote this is to set clearly who I am now and who I should be in the future. I really want to change. Sometimes I feel hopeless because I was born this way. It has been 20 years since and nothing has changed. This is my lifestyle and I have to step up and say that I can control my decisions. I have to go for what’s best for me. I have always searched for recognition, appreciation and friendship but wanting so made me the loser that I am today. I don’t want to get depressed because of the truth but I think of it as a challenge for me to become stronger and wiser. Less than 2 years left before I enter the Real World it’s time for the transition. It’s time for change.

*Obama won… :)

Meet Sapphire part2

So sapphire (my acer aspire 4730z) has been well. But I noticed some missing softwares from acer that should come with it… or so i thought… half of the user guide mentioned about the ‘Acer empowering technology suite’ and it happens that my model (4730z) do not accompany it… I checked the CD but there was no installer.  I am deeply dissappointed.. the ‘e’ button at the side of the speakers only runs the launch manager which is another shortcut button to any application you choose. :( And as I studied it further, the only ‘technology’ that is present in sapphire is the crystalbrite and the signalUP. I haven’t tested the wifi access but it should work… :)   As my brother pointed out, my notebook looked generic because of  the few acer programs put to it.. wah! Downloading is a possibility but would the compatibility be an issue? as of now no drivers are available for the 4730z model in the acer website… *sigh* :(

Setting this fact aside,  I’m still enjoying my new notebook… I have a new cooler and sleeve.. yippee..

Meet Sapphire

Sapphire happens to be the name of my new laptop…  Funny it may seem to baptize it, our family likes naming things… very much.. haha.. :)

anyway.. I spent plenty of hours in deciding which laptop to choose… I have taken every pricelist at gilmore and SM north edsa when I was still in Manila… but this came to nothing when my parents decided to buy a laptop  here, in baguio, in SM, at Octagon for 0% interest for 12 months… so my choices was put down to two. An Acer Aspire 4730z and an Asus X80… Both have similar specs except on the Hard Disk (160-Acer,120-Asus) but Asus x80 was P3,000 worth more than that of Acer (29k)… Both were good but I was so attracted by the scratch proof design of the X80. The price difference was not worth the design according to every member of my family…:( Which lead them choosing Acer Aspire… It’s not really a big deal… really.. no it’s not… haha.. :) well, she’s in her 2nd day with me and she seems fine to me… :)

The Good

- very nice camera… :)

- 160GB is sooo plenty… :)

- nice volume controls

- faster than Lappy (Acer Travelmate), well it should considering the processor upgrade… :)

-smaller and lighter… :)

The Bad

-Vista Starter only

- 2 usb ports only

- no bluetooth

So my Notebook dilemma have been solved sooner than expected. I think this was a better choice than taking  an MSI VR340 or a NEO Vivid even if the specs were better.  Now the real challenge is taking care of Sapphire… :) aja!
