Last saturday, june 14, Joomla day philippines was held. It was a big event with big people!!! I mean BIG (the core developer of joomla.. ^_^). Even people from Cebu travelled just to participate and as for alvin and I, we  just happened to be few steps away from the venue(lucky us huh?). Well I like the concept of promoting open source software. The talk by Johann, the main developer of Joomla, was pretty inspiring. I wished we had heard about the event earlier so we could have registered for the afternoon talk but we didn’t, leaving us with no Joomla shirt butwith a Joomla keychain + an installation manual(gee great!). I’m not as disappointed as alvin is since I’ve really not tried Joomla that much although I want to. It seems I lack the interest since my focus as of now is graphics designing. And programming is really not my thing even if it involves the slightest coding there is… That is why I am now promoting an inskape community philippine branch (is there already?) that will handle an inkscape day! haha.. although I don’t think Inkscape needs to be promoted since a lot uses it but not all gets some money from it.. so it’s more of leisure or hobby than a help in developing or business like Joomla.Well even so, Inkscape is still an open source software and in fact it is one of the most appreciated! People would think why do you need inkscape if you have a pirated Illustrator? My answer would be its easier and it supplies what I need to make my stuff. So supporting Inkscape will help or maybe boost the spirits of volunteers to keep on improving this software until they beat adobe illustrator (in my dreams huh?).  Well, inkscape is a great help to me so having an inkscape day packed with tutorials, tips and tricks and inspiring talks will reallybe worth a gem.. plus i’ll spend any amount to buy an inkscape shirt! haha
