xoxo Gossip Girl

Here’s the thing, I am not a fan of TV series in America. In fact, I could mention only a few that I watched and remembered: Charmed, Prison Break and Heroes. I watched Charmed back in the old days where the not so good storyline was good enough and witches and warlocks sound magically pleasing. And then after tons of years there’s Prison Break where the supposedly uninterested me happened to be curious on how Michael Scofield, the hunk with tattoos in his back managed to escape a prison in a length of 24 episodes. But that was season 1 and I had to stop since the bloody scenes were too gross for me to handle. Then there’s the famous Heroes, another known TV series where it has become a must watch if you don’t want to be left behind by society. But I have to give Heroes the credit since it had full of excitement and a wild imagination. Watching it was totally worth the time. Everything else, (Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, House, One Tree Hill) is uninteresting in my view. Nevertheless, I have to introduce you with one TV series that rated A+ in my grading sheet, Gossip Girl.

Gossip Girl from the title itself is intriguing. When I watched the sort of trailer of this series I knew I had to give it a try. Finally, a TV series that reveals some facts seemingly ignored but mustn’t. Here are categories that falls on gossip girl: SECRETS, TEENAGERS, SCHOOL, MANIPULATION, POPULARITY and WEALTH. From these words itself, we can pretty much visualize what this series is all about. I for one am very sensitive when it comes to high school stereotypes, inner/outer circles and status quo. And I have to say, a lot of scenes are oh so true even here in the Philippines. For a season one with 18 episodes, a lot happened and characters were perfectly matched, mismatched and crazily twisted. There were secrets introduced and spilled giving the viewers as myself complete satisfaction (and a hangover). Plus, the issue of parent and child age gap is presented clearly and somehow heartfelt. What’s up with the 24 episodes of season 2? that’s something many will be looking forward to. I’m sooo waiting more to here from gossip girl! :)

Warning: gossip girl somehow takes out the bitchy side of females but it also says that theres is always a choice, so it’s either you hate what they’re doing or you join their party. But hey, being aware and cautious of the reality that’s in front of you may makes your social life more easier to bare. For us teenagers, let’s just keep up doing the right decisions and not let anybody tear us apart. :)
